Hello, I'd like to personally take this opportunity to welcome you to Hall's Safety Equipment Corp. and our home on the world wide web.
Over 50 years ago, my grandfather, F.H. Hall, started a mail order business in his
Grove City, PA home. His original catalog consisted of 12 pages.
Our newest catalog came out in October 2007. This new catalog is
283 pages and is in full color. Many new items have been added to the line….FR clothing, waterproof boots, hand tools, safety green items, safety glasses, and ground protection mats… just to name a few.
We are a leading distributor for a wide variety of safety apparel and apparatus and currently carry over 5,000 items from the worlds highest quality manufactures of safety equipment.
Our on line catalog has been upgraded to be the same as our full line catalog. The many items in our line have been divided into categories so you can find the item you are looking for quickly and easily. It has been re-worked for easier navigation thru the entire catalog or you might just search thru the section you need. Also, our on-line catalog is set up with a shopping cart for your convenience in ordering any time day or night.
We appreciate your taking the time to visit our site. We sincerely look forward to serving you in the future.
Rick Hall
About Hall's... In 1947, F. H. Hall transformed the basement of his Chestnut Street home into a mail-order business named F. H. Hall Linemen's Supplies. His 12-page catalog listed boots, gloves, hand tools, and other linemen related items. The business flourished, and soon more space was needed, so he rented an office and warehouse on Erie St.
His son, Jack "Skinny" Hall, returned from military in 1953. Together, they constructed a 1600 sq. ft building at Skinny's property on Gasper & Sandy Lake roads. The building is still in use today.
Skinny formed a similar company in 1972. He began traveling to conventions and utility shows to distribute his catalog. He obtained telephone books from several states, and every company related to the utility industry was sent a catalog. Of course, his secretary had to type thousands of address labels! Later, a computer system was purchased to maintain the customer list and monitor stock.
After the death of his father, Skinny ran both businesses with the help of his mother, Evelyn, and sons, Rick and Jim.
Evelyn retired in 1976, after many years of working hard to build the family business.
In 1982, Skinny merged the two companies into Hall's Safety Equipment, Inc.
Rick graduated from high school in 1974, and continued working for his dad.
In 1986, Rick assumed the presidency, and Skinny retired (well, sort of). Skinny continues attending trade shows, and when not spending winters in Florida, he still comes to work every day.
Rick has taken the company thru many changes. In 1993 a new warehouse and office complex was completed. This addition contains a second floor, conveyor system, loading dock, and packing room. In 2004 another 5,000 square feet addition was built for warehouse space. With the newest addition, the building is now over 32,000 sq. ft.
In 1994, he worked with the computer programmer to design a program specifically for Hall’s needs for inventory control and sales. (That year he missed his vacation to the races in Florida because of his involvement in the new computer program.)
Rick worked with boot companies to design lineman boots with all the features needed for the climbing industry. He listened to his customers who wanted waterproof boots, and was instrumental in designing and providing several styles of waterproof boots.
All new computers were purchased in October 2007.
Rick continues to be a leader in taking Hall’s Safety forward with his business skills and ability to keep on top of the needs of today’s lineman.
Rick’s brother, Jim, graduated from Penn State. After several business ventures of his own, Jim joined the family business in November 2005. He took on the role of Advertising Manager. Jim is currently responsible for the full line color catalog, quarterly brochures, and also the internet site. Since joining the Hall’s team, Jim has taken Hall’s advertising to a new level….the age of color. His innovative ideas and many talents will add much to the future success of Hall’s Safety.
Hall’s full line catalog is distributed all over the United States. The Hall’s line of boots has been noted to be some of the best for the lineman’s needs. The industry is now requiring more FR clothing, so Hall’s has added many new items in the 08 catalog. Please check the website or catalog for all your lineman and tree trimmer needs. If you need something and do not see it advertised, give us a call (800-227-4255). We will try and find it for you.
Hall’s customer service representatives and other employees have many years of experience in answering your questions and supplying the merchandise you need. Please feel free to contact us at any time. We will be happy to serve you.
